Accumulation of phenolic substances and phytoalexins in tomato varieties cultivated on infected soils in Lebanon

, : Accumulation of phenolic substances and phytoalexins in tomato varieties cultivated on infected soils in Lebanon. Phytopathologische Zietschrift 81(1): 23-37

Three tomato cvs were grown in greenhouses, in a soil containing representative tomato pests and parasites, viz. Meloidogyne sp., Verticillium sp., Fusarium oxysporum and Pyrenochaeta lycopersici, or in a sterilized soil. During plant development differences were found in the synthesis of phenolic compounds between plants in the infected soil and the controls. The intensity of the reaction and the nature of the phenols seemed to depend on the genome of the host plant.
