Accumulation of phytoalexins in Phaseolus vulgaris hypocotyls following infection by Rhizoctonia solani

, : Accumulation of phytoalexins in Phaseolus vulgaris hypocotyls following infection by Rhizoctonia solani. Physiological Plant Pathology 5(1): 51-64

Phaseollin, kievitone, phaseollidin and phaseollinisoflavan were obtained from R. solani-infected bean hypocotyls bearing lesions of different ages. The 4 phytoalexins were concentrated in the lesion areas and accumulated with time. Kievitone occurred at 183 mu g/g fresh wt. in young lesions and at 638 mu g/g fresh wt. in mature lesions. Phaseollin concs. were 18 and 782 mu g/g fresh wt., respectively, at comparable stages of lesion maturity.
