Accumulation of pigments in mesophyll and bundle-sheath chloroplasts in greening maize leaves

, : Accumulation of pigments in mesophyll and bundle-sheath chloroplasts in greening maize leaves. Photosynthetica 6(4): 410-414

In the leaves of 7- to 9-day-old dark-grown maize seedlings, pigment synthesis on exposure to light started earlier in (a) the bundle-sheath cells than in (b) the mesophyll cells, but soon ceased. In (b), pigment synthesis lasted for a longer period and proceeded at a higher rate than in (a).
