Accumulation of synthetic organochlorine pesticides in human adipose tissue in the province of Trento

, : Accumulation of synthetic organochlorine pesticides in human adipose tissue in the province of Trento. Igiene Moderna 64(1/6): 36-44

Biopsy samples of omentum fat were obtained at 2 hospitals in the Province of Trento from 31 male or female surgical patients from 11 to 76 years old, resident in urban or rural areas and of different occupations. The accumulation of residues of synthetic in all, p,p'DT and their metabolites was estimated by gas chromatography. Only p,p'-DDE was found in all, p,p'DDT in 30, o,p'-DDT in 18, heptachlorepoxide in 6 and lindane in 4. No heptachlor, aldrin, dieldrin of DDD was detected.
