Accumulative effects of manure and N on continuous corn and clay soil. II. Chemical changes in the soil

, : Accumulative effects of manure and N on continuous corn and clay soil. II. Chemical changes in the soil. Agronomy Journal 65(4): 629-633

In a five-year factorial experiment a Typic Ochraqualf under continuous maize received four rates of manure and five rates of N fertilizer. Cultivation of the untreated plots reduced organic matter, and an annual application of 44 t/ha of fresh manure was needed to maintain it. P from manure was more available than fertilizer P. 119 kg/ha of P from manure increased soil P by the same amount as 480 kg/ha of fertilizer P.
