Accuracy of calculations of comparative standards for milk yield as a function of the number of animals. II. Tests on the model with a simulation technique

, : Accuracy of calculations of comparative standards for milk yield as a function of the number of animals. II. Tests on the model with a simulation technique. Archif fur Tierzucht 15(6): 407-413

The model described in the preceding abstr. was tested by computer simulation based on a 305-day yields estimated from 2890 incomplete first lactations in a breeding herd. Results confirmed that the numbers of animals currently used for computing comparative standards were generally too small and that breeding work should be concentrated on industrial production units, with suitable correction methods to eliminate systematic environmental influences.
