In 4- to 5-day-old barley seedlings, dipping coleoptiles in 100 mu M acetylcholine chloride had no direct effect on etiolated seedlings, but decreased the effect of red light in increasing saponarin (6-C-glucosyl-7-O-glucosyl apigenin) contents and PAL activity.
