Acetylcholinesterase activity in vertebrate spermatozoa

, : Acetylcholinesterase activity in vertebrate spermatozoa. VII World Congress on Fertility and Sterility, 17-25 October, 1971, Tokyo/Kyoto Abstracts: 4

Spermatozoa from 5 species, including cattle and rats, were examined. Acetylcholinesterase activity was localised in the mid-piece of the spermatozoa. Activity was considerably reduced in stored bull spermatozoa. There was no indication of localisation of activity in the sperm head. However, in mechanically separated spermatozoa, activity is seen at the base of the head.
