Acetylurea and acetamide or mixtures of them with urea as NPN sources in vitro. 4. Protein and fatty acid production after adaptation of the donor animal to acetamide

, : Acetylurea and acetamide or mixtures of them with urea as NPN sources in vitro. 4. Protein and fatty acid production after adaptation of the donor animal to acetamide. Archiv fur Tierernahrung 23(4): 329-339

4. The experiment was similar to those in parts 2 and 3 except that the sheep were adapted for 10 or 30 days to a diet with acetamide as the sole source of NPN. Protein synthesis was greatest with acetamide and its combination with urea after both periods of adaptation. The molar proportion of butyric acid was about 4.1% after both periods of adaptation, that of propionic acid was 36.9% after 10 and 31.9% after 30 days and that of acetic acid rose from 55.1% after 10 to 58.5% after 30 days.
