Achievements in monogerm sugar-beet breeding

, : Achievements in monogerm sugar-beet breeding. Productia Vegetala, Cereale si Plante Tehnice 26(9): 15-20

A large number of monogerm hybrids was studied for a two-year period in irrigated (at Fundulea) and unirrigated conditions (at Brasov), using the polyploid multigerm varieties R Poli 1 and R Poli 7 respectively as controls. Average root yield, total sugar yield per unit area, white sugar yield, number of beets required to produce 1 kg of sugar, sugar content, mineral content, content of noxious nitrogen and sugar extract value were assessed.
