, : Biochemical changes in the rumen fluid of cattle in experimental acidosis reproduced with the use of saccharose. Bulletin of the Veterinary Institute in Pulawy 18(1/2): 27-32

Six Friesian cows 4 to 10 years of age with a permanent rumen fistula were maintained on the same diet for 3 weeks then given intraruminally a dose of sucrose 8 g/kg bodyweight in water in the first experiment and 12 g/kg in the second. Twelve samples of rumen fluid were taken in the 2 days before dosing. After the 1st experiment rumen contents were removed to aid recovery and the animals were kept on the same diet for 2 months before the second experiment.
