Breeding beans, Phaseolus vulgaris L., for improved germination under unfavorable low temperature conditions

, : Breeding beans, Phaseolus vulgaris L., for improved germination under unfavorable low temperature conditions. Crop Science 11(6): 848-850

Five years' breeding and selection resulted in the production of P. vulgaris lines with good pod and plant characteristics and ability to germinate at 8-10 deg C. With a temperature regime of 10 deg (day) and 8 deg (night) these lines grew faster than the cvs with which they were compared.
