Control of insect defoliators of collards in Alabama

, : Control of insect defoliators of collards in Alabama. Journal of Economic Entomology 66(5): 1159-1161

In spray tests in field plots in Alabama during 1969-71, several pesticides were evaluated for control of insect defoliators of collards. Galecron applied at 1 lb toxicant/acre, methomyl at 0.5 lb, Monitor (O,S-dimethyl phosphoramidothioate) at 0.5 lb and Dipel (a preparation of the HD-1 strain of Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki) at 0.5 lb gave good control of larvae of Pieris rapae (L.) and Plutella xylostella (L.).
