Effect of different forms of nitrogen fertilizer, applied to hills, on yield of potatoes

, : Effect of different forms of nitrogen fertilizer, applied to hills, on yield of potatoes. Khimiya v Sel' skom Khozyaistve 12(2): 22-24

In trials with potatoes 1968-70, N as ammonium sulphate, ammonium nitrate or urea applied to hills at planting increased average tuber yields by 36, 34 and 26%, respectively, from 18.1 t/ha on plots given PK only. Ammonium nitrate accelerated growth and tuber formation and increased yields during the early growth period, while ammonium sulphate increased tuber formation during the later stages.
