Effect of fellings and soil cultivation on erosion processes in the montane forests of the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus

, : Effect of fellings and soil cultivation on erosion processes in the montane forests of the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. Pochvovedenie (6): 79-86

Studies were made of the effect of clear felling, mechanized ground skidding, and soil cultivation on erosion of brown montane forest soils on slopes of 5-30 deg in the Oak zone. Results showed that the amount of fine soil eroded from areas damaged by felling and skidding ranged from 275 to 433 m3/ha in the first year after felling, depending on the slope.
