In studies in the United States, a night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), a green heron (Butorides virescens), a white ibis (Eudocimus albus) and a cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) were each exposed overnight in 8-ft cubical cages to 52-1200 females of Culex nigripalpus Theo. Surviving mosquitos were examined on the following morning.
