Effect of the growing conditions on water status and fractional composition of proteins in sugar-beet leaves

, : Effect of the growing conditions on water status and fractional composition of proteins in sugar-beet leaves. Fiziologiya i Biokhimiya Kul' turnykh Rastenii 5(5): 484-488

In trials with sugar beet grown in sand-culture with moisture contents maintained at 60% of field capacity, a 6-fold increase in B concentration in the nutrient solution decreased leaf area, leaf protein and water contents and root yields; increasing the concentration of other nutrients to the same level as the B concentration in the solution markedly reduced the adverse effects of B on protein and water contents, increased drought resistance and yields.
