Fate of tagged cotton squares, Dell and Newport, 1972

, : Fate of tagged cotton squares, Dell and Newport, 1972. Arkansas Farm Research 22(4): 8

By following the development of marked cotton bolls from the pin-head stage to shedding at 2 sites in 1972, it was shown that 26% of marked bolls made an open boll. The cause of only 6 and 12% of the total losses could be determined at the 2 sites. Most of the loss was thought to be due to physiological shedding brought about by drought. At least 92% of the yield was from bolls set between 19 June and 30 July.
