Feeding behaviour of chicks from hatching to three weeks

, : Feeding behaviour of chicks from hatching to three weeks. Conference on poultry and rabbit research, December 1973: 151-158

Feed and water intake were recorded automatically on graphs for 4 chickens during 21 days after hatching. The chickens were kept under continuous lighting, group LL, or under a 14 h light and 10 h dark cycle, group LD. Chickens fed only during light periods. The intervals between feeding averaged 11 to 15 min for group LL and 7 to 8 min for group LD. The average time spent eating a meal was 2 min 20 sec for LL and 2 min 50 sec for LD chicks.
