Fundamental features of the dynamics of organic matter in ploughed soils of the podzolic type

, : Fundamental features of the dynamics of organic matter in ploughed soils of the podzolic type. Izvestiya Timiryazevskoi Sel' skokhozyaistvennoi Akademii (1): 39-48

In long-term experiments on derno-podzolic soils of different mechanical composition, annual field crops in monoculture or in a rotation gradually decreased the organic-matter content of the soil when fertilizers were not applied. The decrease in the humus content was two to three times greater under row crops than under grain crops. Application of a sufficient amount of dung and other organic manures prevented a negative organic-matter balance.
