Generalized Trichophyton mentagrophytes ringworm in Capuchin monkeys (Cebus nigrivitatus)

, : Generalized Trichophyton mentagrophytes ringworm in Capuchin monkeys (Cebus nigrivitatus). British Journal of Dermatology 87(6): 565-570

A chronic and extensive T. mentagrophytes infection is reported in 3 monkeys, severely debilitated from internal parasites, pneumonia and enteritis, factors which led to their deaths within 2 months of purchase by a zoo. Clinically there was widespread hair loss, with skin-scaling and crusting. Histology revealed hyperkeratosis and peri-folliculitis.
