Hybridization of Aedes sollicitans (Walker) and Aedes nigromaculis (Ludlow) by induced copulation

, : Hybridization of Aedes sollicitans (Walker) and Aedes nigromaculis (Ludlow) by induced copulation. Mosquito News 34(1): 71-76

Hybrids between Aedes sollicitans (Wlk.) and A. nigromaculis (Ludl.) were produced by use of a method of induced copulation slightly modified from one described in a paper already noticed. In the F1 and F2 hybrids and the progeny of 8 types of back-cross of the F1 hybrids, egg fertility, mortality, size, and the duration of the larval stages did not appear to differ from those of the parent species.
