Hybridization of Aedes taeniorhynchus (Wiedemann) with Aedes nigromaculis (Ludlow) or Aedes sollicitans (Walker) by induced copulation

, : Hybridization of Aedes taeniorhynchus (Wiedemann) with Aedes nigromaculis (Ludlow) or Aedes sollicitans (Walker) by induced copulation. Mosquito News 34(4): 431-435

Reciprocal crosses between Aedes taeniorhynchus (Wied.) and either A. nigromaculis (Ludl.) or A. sollicitans (Wlk.) were made by use of a technique of induced copulation described in a paper already noticed. In the crosses between the first two species, 60-68% of the females oviposited and 50-59% of the eggs were viable; in those between the first and third species, 75-90% of the females oviposited and 67% of the eggs were viable.
