Induced desynaptic mutant in rice (Oryza sativa L)

, : Induced desynaptic mutant in rice (Oryza sativa L). Science and Culture 39(8): 367-369

Twenty-one pollen and spikelet-sterile desynaptic mutant plants were obtained in the M2 generation from the progeny of a single M1 plant out of 135 plants grown from seed treated with ethyl methanesulphonate. Normal pairing at pachytene was followed by some univalent formation at diplotene. In eleven out of twelve PMCs studied at diacinesis, 24 univalents were clearly discernable. In only one case was one bivalent seen.
