After irradiation of dry seeds with thermal neutrons, three M2 plants from the line GaB125 and one from Capeiti showed similar mutant features, involving disappearance of the auricle and marked reduction of the ligule, resulting in a more erect attitude of the leaves. Segregation in crosses and back crosses showed that the locus controlling this feature was the same in all cases. The mutation is monogenic and incompletely recessive.
