Ethrel 68-250 sprayed at 0, 300, 600 or 900 p.p.m. 2 days before the first picking had no effect on yield but advantageously reduced fruit size and shortened the picking period, which after the heavier treatments ended 3-4 weeks early. Ethrel also considerably reduced the incidence of cracked and rotted fruits but slightly lowered the sugar content.
