Induction of parturition in female farm animals and its application in the animal industry : influence of shortened gestation on pelt quality in the Karakul lamb

, : Induction of parturition in female farm animals and its application in the animal industry : influence of shortened gestation on pelt quality in the Karakul lamb. Agricultural Research 1972: ; 63-64

For 33 ewes injected with flumethasone 138 days post-conception and for 33 controls resp., gestation length averaged 146.2 and 149.6 days (P <0.01), lamb birth weight 4.1 and 4.5 kg (P<0.01), pelt weight 1510 and 1675 g and pelt surface area 1.77 and 1.87 m2. Hair length was considerably reduced with the decrease in gestation length, while pattern and hair quality were unchanged.
