Influence of radiant energy from fluorescent light sources on growth, mortality, and feed conversion of broilers

, : Influence of radiant energy from fluorescent light sources on growth, mortality, and feed conversion of broilers. Poultry Science 53(6): 2055-2059

Experiments were conducted on broilers reared under white incandescent lamps, or fluorescent light sources emitting predominantly radiant energy representing the blue, green, yellow and red portions of the spectrum. Based on 4 trials, 9-wk body weight was highest (1.77 kg; P<0.05) in birds under the blue or green fluorescent light, and lowest (1.74 kg) in birds under the red light; the white and yellow groups were intermediate. There were no significant effects of light treatment on feed conversion or mortality.
