Isolated anther culture of tobacco and sugar beet as a means for obtaining haploid plants and callus heterogenous in ploidy

, : Isolated anther culture of tobacco and sugar beet as a means for obtaining haploid plants and callus heterogenous in ploidy. Genetika i Selektsiya 6(6): 501-507

Tobacco anthers cultured in a modified Nakata's nutrient medium at 3000 lx and 20 deg C produced haploid embryos which developed into plants on thirtieth day. Some plants treated with colchicine gave rise to diploids.Primary callus obtained from anther culture of sugar beet comprised cells heterogeneous for ploidy level.
