, : Isolation and characterization of Mycoplasma meleagridis. Canadian Journal of Microbiology 18(2): 127-135

The ability of M. meleagridis to metabolize L-arginine hydrochloride and its inability to ferment dextrose can be used in identifying and differentiating this serotype from other mycoplasms known to infect turkeys. M. meleagridis may be the only species of turkey origin which lacks the ability to reduce tetrazolium chloride. A selective inhibitory effect of erythromycin and oleandomycin on M. gallisepticum can be used to differentiate it from M. meleagradis.
