, : Lice control in cattle. Is it worthwhile?. New Zealand Journal of Agriculture 129(6): 37-39

The lice that have been recorded from cattle in New Zealand are Linognathus vituli (L.), Damalinia bovis (L.), Solenopotes capillatus End. and Haematopinus eurysternus Denny. All occur in small numbers in summer but reach high population levels in winter, except on autumn-born calves, which bear their heaviest infestations in summer. Breeds of cattle and individuals vary in susceptibility. Only 1-2% are highly susceptible.
