Lipid fractions in the rumen wall as influenced by rumen development in calves

, : Lipid fractions in the rumen wall as influenced by rumen development in calves. Indian Journal of Animal Sciences 42(6): 416-419

At 15 weeks of age, buffalo calves given milk alone had more triglyceride and less lysolecithin, sphingomyelin and lecithin in the rumen wall than those fed on concentrate and hay or hay alone. Earlier feeding on milk or hay diets up to 15 weeks of age had no effect on the lipid composition of ruminal tissue in calves fed on concentrate and hay for a subsequent period of 4 weeks.
