Molecular weights of plants viral RNAs determined by gel electrophoresis under denaturing conditions

, : Molecular weights of plants viral RNAs determined by gel electrophoresis under denaturing conditions. Virology 60(2): 515-521

Assuming a linear relationship between electrophoretic mobility and log (mol. wt.)-1 the following mean mol. wts. were calculated for the RNAs of: cucumber mosaic virus, 1.21, 1.06, 0.79, 0.33 X 106; brome mosaic virus, 1.19, 1.07, 0.8, 0.275 X 106; cowpea chlorotic mottle virus, 1.2, 1.07, 0.81, 0.25 X 106; cowpea mosaic virus, 2.02, 1.37 X 106; tobacco rattle virus, 2.37, 0.84 X 106; tobacco mosaic virus, 2.07 X 106. The significance of these data is discussed in relation to mol. wt. values for the same RNAs published by other workers.
