, : Morphological and histological observations on synovial grooves of the tarsal joint in clinically normal cattle. Folia Veterinaria Latina 3(2): 254-269

Tarsal joints of 100 healthy cattle aged 1.5-12 years were examined. Synovial grooves occurred on the astragalus, central tarsal bone and tibial articular surface in all animals, and also on the calcaneum in 79%. The shape of the grooves was standard, except in young animals.
