Morphological studies on adventitious root formation in cuttings. III. Effects of IAA and kinetin on root and bud formation in stem sections of Portulaca grandiflora and Mesembryanthemum spectabile

, : Morphological studies on adventitious root formation in cuttings. III. Effects of IAA and kinetin on root and bud formation in stem sections of Portulaca grandiflora and Mesembryanthemum spectabile. Journal of the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science 41(2): 185-195

In 4-mm stem sections of M. spectabile both root and bud formation were promoted by IAA in the light; bud formation was also promoted in the dark, whereas root formation was inhibited. Kinetin inhibited rooting but stimulated bud formation in the dark; it inhibited both processes in the light. A combination of IAA and kinetin promoted root, bud and callus formation to a greater extent than either component alone.
