Pathological anatomy of conifer needle necrosis

, : Pathological anatomy of conifer needle necrosis. Canadian Journal of Botany 51(5): 983-988

The anatomy of the disorder, caused by major environmental stresses, was investigated in several pines and Pseudotsuga menziesii to determine if histological responses could provide a diagnostic tool. All stresses studied caused a general hypertrophy of the epithelial tissue of the resin canals which became occluded. Granulation of transfusion and mesophyll parenchyma cells was also a general response.
