Performance of winter-planted small-grain cultivars on the High Plains of New Mexico

, : Performance of winter-planted small-grain cultivars on the High Plains of New Mexico. Research Report, New Mexico State University Agricultural Experiment Station (279): 8

New and established cultivars of winter wheat, barley and oats were compared in field trials at Clovis in 1970-3. Winter wheat Centurk yielded very well under irrigated and rain-fed conditions when moisture was average or above. Cultivar Scout generally gave yields similar to those of Centurk in rain-fed trials where there was less than average moisture. A list is given of the better released cultivars. Winter barley Schuyler gave high yields with no lodging.
