Burrows, C.F.; Harvey, C.E., 1973: Perineal hernia in the dog. Journal of Small Animal Practice 14(6): 315-332
Of 28872 dogs seen at the University of Pennsylvania veterinary hospital between 1966 and 1970, 72 had perineal hernia. The youngest of these was aged 4 years 1 month and the oldest 15 years. Seventy of the cases were in males and only two in females. There was a significantly higher frequency in the Collie breed. Surgical procedures are described and illustrated. Of 59 dogs operated on, 39% had no immediate post-operative problems; in 46% the condition recurred.
