Peroral use of iron-dextran for prevention of piglet anaemia

, : Peroral use of iron-dextran for prevention of piglet anaemia. Veterinaria, Yugoslavia 22(2): 199-205

Two experiments, one in summer and one in winter in Yugoslavia, were made in different herds of pigs. In the winter trial 53 pigs of 3 litters were divided into 2 groups and given either 200 mg Fe3+ as iron-dextran by mouth within 12 h after birth or the same amount of Fe by vein on the third day. The second trial was similar but was with 63 pigs of 7 litters and the injected Fe was 100 mg in the form of "Ferri 100" instead of "Myofer".
