Physiological action of ethylene in crop plants. 4. Effect of ethylene application to roots on the growth of tomato and soyabean plants

, : Physiological action of ethylene in crop plants. 4. Effect of ethylene application to roots on the growth of tomato and soyabean plants. Proceedings of the Crop Science Society of Japan 42(4): 493-498

Soyabean plants were grown in mist culture and the roots exposed to 1-10 ppm ethylene for 1 week. Exposure to ethylene inhibited root elongation but increased root and shoot dry weight. Stem elongation was promoted when roots were exposed to 1 ppm ethylene.
