Plasma prolactin levels and hypothalamic catecholamine synthesis during suckling

, : Plasma prolactin levels and hypothalamic catecholamine synthesis during suckling. Neuroendocrinology 16(2): 108-113

Effects of suckling on release of prolactin and synthesis rates of hypothalamic catecholamines were determined in lactating rats. yrosine was administered to rats at the onset of suckling and the rate of its incorporation into dopamine and noradrenaline was measured at various intervals. Suckling caused an increase in the plasma prolactin concn. within 4 min.
