Preliminary studies on two predators (Acarina:Phytoseiidae) of the spider mite Tetranychus neocaledonicus Andre (Acarina: Tetranychidae)

, : Preliminary studies on two predators (Acarina:Phytoseiidae) of the spider mite Tetranychus neocaledonicus Andre (Acarina: Tetranychidae). Zeitschrift fur Anfewandte Entomology 75(3): 315-321

The biology of Amblyseius masiaka Blommers & Chazeau and A. vazimba Blommers & Chazeau (cf. preceding abstract) as predators of Tetranychus neocaledonicus Andre is described from observations in the laboratory. Females of A. masiaka consumed all stages of T. neocaledonicus and destroyed up to 4.5 adult females/day. The duration of development averaged 8.7 days at 25 deg C and 75% R.H.
