Prevention of early metabolic errors in newborn infants

, : Prevention of early metabolic errors in newborn infants. Ceskoslovenska Pediatrie 27(10): 502-504

Healthy newborn term infants were infused with 1 g fructose/kg bodyweight immediately after birth or with 1 g fructose or glucose/kg bodyweight when 6 to 12 h old. With fructose there was no adverse clinical or metabolic effect and blood sugar increased less than with glucose. With both infusions lactate in blood increased.
