Problems of the taxonomy and ecology of gall midges (Diptera, Cecidiomyiidae)

, : Problems of the taxonomy and ecology of gall midges (Diptera, Cecidiomyiidae). Acta Entomologica Bohemoslovaca 70(2): 65-73 + 1 pl. + smries.

Reviews studies on these problems since the mid-19th century, and discusses the biology of the Cecidomyiidae (including gall-forming, predacious, sapro- or mycophagous and inquiline forms). It is shown that each finding of an unknown form of damage by a gall-midge larva, to a plant on which it had not been recorded, frequently led to the description of a new species.
