Relationship of resin-binding tests for triiodothyronine and thyroxine to histological and histochemical changes in the thyroid gland of cattle

, : Relationship of resin-binding tests for triiodothyronine and thyroxine to histological and histochemical changes in the thyroid gland of cattle. Veterinarski Arhiv 42(9/10): 240-245

The tests were carried out on 60 Simmenthal cattle. Only 8 glands showed no histological changes, and 52 showed goitres, 17 of them hyperplastic, 17 colloid and 18 parenchymal. The triiodothyronine and thyroxine from the goitrous glands were not distinguishable from histologically normal gland hormones by the resin-binding tests, so the goitres were judged to be euthyroid.
