Seed characteristics of some forms of Pyrus amygdaliformis Vill. in Macedonia

, : Seed characteristics of some forms of Pyrus amygdaliformis Vill. in Macedonia. Jugoslovensko Vocarstvo 15(5): 19-26

Indigenous forms were studied from 32 localities and a range of morphological data on the fruit and seed was recorded, together with observations on germination and seedling growth. Large variations appeared in the values tabulated for each character. Five locules were normal, four and six rare. A form from the highest site sampled, Konjsko village, had the heaviest fruits (16 g) and in number of seeds per fruit was second only to a specimen from Furka.
