, : Selected characteristics of eggs produced by Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Poultry Science 51(4): 1370-1376

Data were collected on eggs laid by 53 females from the onset of lay to 220 days of age. Of characters that varied throughout the period, egg production was a maximum between 60 and 150 days of age, egg weight averaged 11 g, and shell weight averaged 0.84 plus or minus 0.4 g after 111 days of age. Shell thickness averaged 215 mu from day 77 to 220, and shell length 33 plus or minus 1 mm from day 85 to 220.
