Serum triiodothyronine concentration in the iodine-deficient rat

, : Serum triiodothyronine concentration in the iodine-deficient rat. American Journal of Anatomy 135(2): 187-190

Rats given a Rockland "normal" diet and a Remington diet low in I for 4 to 5 weeks had, in pooled serum, triiodothyronine (T3) estimated by radioimmunoassay 0.058 and 0.039 and protein-bound I (PBI) 18.6 and 4.6 mu g/100 ml. The T3 to PBI ratio X 103 was 3.2 and 8.4. The increase in the ratio produced by I deficiency was discussed.
