Simultaneous induction of somatic mutability of B and R alleles in maize

, : Simultaneous induction of somatic mutability of B and R alleles in maize. Genetics 77(1, II): s43

The locus controlling expression and induction of somatic mutability of both B and R alleles is characterized by three alleles: I, associated with normal expression of the phenotypic effects of B and R; i, which when homozygous suppresses the pleiotropic pigmenting effects associated with B and R; and idt, which is dominant to i but recessive to I and which in idt/idt and idt/i genotypes results in somatic mutability of both B and R.
