Small-scale industries in the Indian economy

India's small-scale industries play a vital role in the development process. But they are caught in a web of interlocking problems which have prevented them being fully exploited. Finance is shown to be a major problem. There are also problems of labour, management and material supply. A concerted policy of government support in rural areas is called for.
